Paris is the world capital of fashion. The City of Light offers many varieties of department stores, Malls, brands and designer shops. Here are some suggestions of the best shopping places in Paris.

Some areas propose numerous stores of different kind. It makes them perfect for an ideal shopping session.

Here you will find some of the most famous department stores in Paris:  Le Printemps de la mode and Galeries Lafayette which are located on boulevard Haussmann.

In these department stores you will find haute couture fashion, designer collections,  jewelery, and other luxury goods. For casual clothes, the department store Citadium is perfect.

Madeleine is also known for its fine grocery shops. This mall has recently been opened in the 15th Arrondissement in the center of Paris, not far from tourist hot-spots like the Eiffel Tower and the Orsay Museum. You can shop for French fashion brands like Maje, Zadig et Voltaire, The Kooples, and Sandro as well as more mainstream brands like H&M and Zara. You can also find fine groceries and chocolate in “la Pâtisserie des Reves”.

Near the city hall is BHV, a department store famous for its dedication to home improvement.

The bazaar also has a large range leather goods, jewelry, clothing and a shoe department.
On rue de Rivoli heading toward the Louvre, you will find traditional department stores such as H&M, Etam, C&A, Zara, Sephora, and Footlocker, but if it’s smaller, independent retailers you’re looking for, try exploring the streets in the Halles direction.
On the same street in the direction of Faubourg Saint-Antoine and Bastille, there is a variety of clothes shops including Kookai, André, The Girls Vanilla, and Mademoiselle Bio among others. A little higher up in the nearby rue du Bourg Tibourg and rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie there are decoration, wellness, and tea shops.

Shopping in Le Marais in Paris is a must-do activity for tourists, as it allows you to walk through the typical narrow streets and discover Paris’ charming clothes shops. The Rue des Francs Bourgeois offers shops for every fashion victim including Zadig & Voltaire, Comptoir des Cotonniers, and Mellow Yellow, as well as a Filofax shop. You will also find convenient storage solutions, objects and clothing in Muji  and cosmetics by Guerlain, Bobbi Brown, Kiehl’s Mac, and l’Occitane. Also check out rue du Bourg-Tibourg and rue des Blancs-Manteaux for fashion boutiques.

Aside from art galleries are many independent creators’ shops that which sell shoes, accessories, bags and clothing. Need a break after all of this exploring? Try one of many cafés and restaurants, or visit the Marché des Enfants Rouges – the oldest food market in Paris. Shops are open on Sunday.

Les Halles is in the center of Paris, just near rue de Rivoli. It stocks casual and sportswear brands with a young clientele. It gets very crowded on Saturdays, so it might be wise to explore the other fashion and thrift stores which are also present in this neighborhood at rue Saint-Denis and rue Etienne-Marcel.

Paris Street Markets

You can’t visit Paris without visiting one of its typical outdoor markets . There are groceries, food, clothing and even antiques. You have the choice between a traditional market like Marché Lenoir (near Bastille square), Paris’ largest market, and a more trendy one such as Marché des Enfants Rouges, where you will be able to have lunch in the outdoor restaurant. If you want to see markets with African and North-African goods, try heading to the north of the city (Mo station Chateau-rouge).

Tip The majority of markets proposes organic foods and many of them are open on Sunday.

7 hectares of 1700 stalls and shops offer a surprising spectacle that has attracted bargain-hunters and window-shoppers for many years.
