The lineup of the upcoming exhibitions showing at the Louvre in 2019/2020 is … There is something for everyone: lovers of art, history and architecture will all be pleased. To give you a clear idea of what’s on, we have below listed the upcoming exhibitions in 2019/2020.

L’ARCHEOLOGIE EN BULLES

The exhibition is both dedicated to archeology and comic strips. Do you want to know how the biggest archeological discoveries inspired the 9th art?

FRANCE-ROMANIA SEASON 2019: ROMANIAN LITURGICAL FABRICS FROM THE 15TH-17TH CENTURY

To celebrate the France-Romania season 2019, the Louvre is benefitting from the symbolic loan of Stephen the Great’s ‘Battle flag of Saint Georges’, to exhibit liturgical fabrics and traditional Byzantine embroideries. These art works date from the 15th to the 17th century and are extraordinary pieces of Romanian patrimony.

From 17th April to 29th July 2019, Richelieu Wing.

FORGOTTEN KINGDOMS: FROM THE HITTITE EMPIRE TO THE ARAMEANS

This exhibition is dedicated to the Hittite Empire. This civilisation established in Anatolia and Levant was rival of Ancient Egypt.

At it’s fall, the Empire gave birth to Neo-Hittite and Aramean Kingdoms situated in what now is modern day Turkey and the near East.

From 2nd May to 12th August, Napolean Hall.

ANTOINE GROS DRAWINGS, A STUDENT OF JACQUES-LOUIS DAVID’S

This exhibition of paintings is dedicated to Antoine Gros, one of the precursors of Romanticism. The 40 artworks presented highlight the evolution of the teaching of his master, Jacques-Louis David.

From 27th June to 30th September 2019

ITALIAN DRAWINGS FROM THE MARIETTE COLLECTION

The collection ‘Mariette’, featuring numerous Italian drawings, will be displayed in a one-off exhibition at the Louvre. Michelangelo, Véronèse, Raphaël… and numerous pieces by the masters of Italian Renaissance will be on show.

From 27th June to 30th September 2019

VINCI AT THE LOUVRE

In honour of 500 years since the death of Léonard de Vinci, the Louvre is organizing an exhibition dedicated to the Italian master. The Louvre has gathered dozens of paintings and drawings from the Renaissance genius.

In addition to the famous Joconde, you will be able to admire numerous other masterworks like La Belle Feronnière, la Sainte Anne or la Vierge aux Rochers.

From 24th October 2019 to 24th February 2020

OFFICER AND GENTLEMAN IN THE 19TH CENTURY: THE HORACE HIS DE LA SALLE

At the end of 2019, the Louvre will showcase the His de la Salle collection. As a varied collection, the exhibition will gather artwork from the 4 departments in the Louvre. There will also be artwork from other French museums to complete the exhibition.

From 7th November 2019 to 10th February 2020
