Eiffel built this masterpiece in two years. The 12,000 steel girders are held together by 2,500,000 rivers and the result is a smooth, curving profile. The steel constructions defied all traditional rules in architecture at the time and today, it serves as the television transmitter for the Paris area.

The tower has three floors: the first one at a height of 57 meters, the second floor at a height of 115 meters and the third floor at a height of 276 meters. The top of the aerial is 320 meters above the ground.

On a bright day, the view from the top platform is astonishing. You can see every inch of Paris including the most distant suburbs. The tower feet are firmly fixed into hydraulic caissons reducing the effect on the wind on the monument. The Eiffel Tower functional elegance heralded the dawn of Industrial Art, and has met with many sarcastic comments from many conservative observers ever since it was finished in 1889 for Paris Exposition Universelle (World Fair). It was the tallest tower in the world.

Le Jules Verne – 2nd Floor – Gastronomic restaurant

The generous innovative cuisine of Chef Pascal Féraud and Alain Ducasse, the director of this unique venue, reaches lofty heights… those of the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, where patrons are elevated by a direct private lift. From there, the view of Paris with its parade of bridges on the Seine is unique. Designer streamlined decor is forgotten as diners revel in the spectacle, confused as to whether they should admire the magic of Paris or the crab filled puff pastry and shrimp cream, the colors of the river or the pressed foie gras.
